Summer Training Program

The program at the University of Rochester provides trainees with extensive contact with research mentors, their staffs of investigators and supporting personnel who guide the research project and serve as role models and provide career direction. Faculty members are either from the Department of Pediatrics or partners who are engaged in research relevant to childhood diseases and developmental biology.

Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship

This program in UC San Diego is designed for motivated undergraduate students from groups that have been shown by the National Science Foundation (NSF) to be underrepresented in health sciences on a national basis and who are interested in seeking future training in a combined MD/PhD program or an academically oriented career in medicine. This program will focus on research projects conducted in laboratories of a faculty member in biomedical sciences.

NSF Graduate Research Fellowship

The purpose of the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students who are pursuing full-time research-based master's and doctoral degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) or in STEM education. The GRFP provides three years of support for the graduate education of individuals who have demonstrated their potential for significant research achievements in STEM or STEM education.

Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL)

The Artificial Intelligence Summer Institute (AISI) is collaborating with Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) scientists on solving problems of national and scientific interest, engage in educational and professional development opportunities, explore career opportunities at national laboratories, and interact with and present their research to ORNL's scientists. Students will be woking in teams to worl on a project that will help develop their scientific skills.

Travelers Summer Research Fellowship Program

This program is designed to give 25 premed students deeper insight into the field of medicine. Students will learn how one pursues a specific research problem under the supervision of a faculty member. They will also attend many lectures that explore different topiccs related to their field of study.

U.S. Department of Homeland Security

The purpose of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Summer Research Team (SRT) Program is to increase and enhance the scientific leadership at Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs) in research areas that support the mission and goals of DHS. They are looking for students interested in STEM in working on various types of research projects with mentors.

Graduate Experience for Multicultural Students (GEMS)

The GEMS program will consist of lectures, professional-development workshops, and a mentored laboratory research assignment. Students will be exposed to a realistic lifestlye of biomedical research. The program takes place in the University of Colorado- Denver Anschutz Medical Campus.

REU-ASPIRE Program

The ASPIRE REU program is designed to promote greater involvement and understanding of Rehabilitation Engineering and assistive technology – while fostering an understanding of the problems faced by individuals with disabilities.  This results in a greater ability to apply engineering principles to improve the quality of life, which promotes a higher degree of inclusiveness and greater functionality for people with disabilities.

 Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Talent Expansion Program

The Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Talent Expansion Program (STEP) seeks to increase the number of students (U.S. citizens or permanent residents) receiving associate or baccalaureate degrees in established or emerging fields within science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Type 1 proposals are solicited that provide for full implementation efforts at academic institutions. Type 2 proposals are solicited that support educational research projects on associate or baccalaureate degree attainment in STEM.

The Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program supports active research participation by undergraduate students in any of the areas of research funded by the National Science Foundation. The University of Wisconsin–Madison offers a number of Summer Research Opportunities to undergraduate students. These are unique opportunities for undergraduates to work closely with faculty mentors and graduate students in their major discipline.
